A predictable evening, less bright light and a comfortable bedroom help support a consistent sleep routine.
The quality of rest depends on more than the time you fall asleep. It is influenced by daytime activity, light, room temperature, caffeine and how abruptly the working day turns into night.
Create a transition to sleep
Set aside the final 30–60 minutes for a calm routine you can repeat. This might include a shower, dimmed lights, preparing things for the morning and reading without work messages.
- keep your wake-up time consistent;
- air the bedroom;
- move intensive tasks to earlier in the day.
An evening ritual should be simple enough to work even on a busy day.
Important. Persistent sleep problems, snoring with pauses in breathing or pronounced daytime sleepiness require medical advice.

Change one factor at a time
Choose one change for seven days and note your sleep times and how you feel in the morning. This makes it easier to understand what truly helps you.
