Mechanism of action and benefits

Retatrutide is a promising product for weight control and the treatment of metabolic disorders, in particular obesity and type 2 diabetes. The active ingredient is an agonist of several incretin hormones: GLP-1, GIP and glucagon.

On interaction with the receptors the product produces the desired biological effect:

GLP-1 stimulates insulin production, lowers appetite and slows gastric emptying;

GIP improves the work of the pancreas and strengthens the action of GLP-1;

GCGR regulates energy expenditure and raises lipolysis (the breakdown of fat).

Thanks to this triple action, retatrutide is unique compared with products acting only on GLP-1 (semaglutide) or on GLP-1 and GIP (tirzepatide).

The product contributes to:

• lower appetite;

• slower gastric emptying;

• a stronger feeling of fullness.

Indications

Retatrutide is recommended for patients:

• to improve glycaemic control in type 2 diabetes;

• with insulin resistance;

• with excess weight or obesity (combined with diet and physical activity);

• for appetite control and normalisation of metabolism.

Contraindications

• individual intolerance of the components;

• a body mass index below 26 kg/m²;

• type 1 diabetes;

• a history of acute or chronic pancreatitis;

• pregnancy and breastfeeding;

• medullary thyroid cancer or MEN-2 syndrome.

Side effects

• nausea;

• vomiting;

• diarrhoea;

• constipation.

They most often appear at the start of treatment and decrease over time.

Conditions of use

The product is used once a week, on the same day and at the same time.

• after opening, keep refrigerated at 2–8 °C for up to 16 weeks;
